Energy Minister Liepert promoted Alberta's energy sector in Europe then met with industry in the US midwest January- February 2011.

Energy Minister Ron Liepert and Mr. Fred Lindsay, MLA for Stony Plain, attended the Energy Council’s 2010 Global Energy and Environmental Issues Conference in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  The Energy Council is a legislative organization of 11 energy producing U.S. states, along with international affiliates - Alberta, British Columbia, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan and Venezuela.  The purpose of the Council is to discuss and promote national policies to encourage efficient development of domestic natural resources.

Final Report:

Diana McQueen, MLA Drayton Valley-Calmar and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Energy, represented Alberta at the Resource Development Council’s Annual Conference in Anchorage, Alaska November 16-18, 2010.  In a session titled “North American Energy Security,” Mrs. McQueen presented on the oil sands and Alberta’s energy and environmental priorities.

Final Report:

Energy Minister Ron Liepert and three government MLAs, Mr. Jeff Johnson, Mr. Cal Dallas and Mr. Evan Berger travelled to the state of Alaska to further Alberta/Alaska relations in key segments of the energy sector. The delegation was supported by Ms. Courtney Luimes, Executive Assistant to the Minister and Mr. Jay O’Neill, Director of Communications.

Final Report:

Final Report:

Energy Minister Ron Liepert travelled to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates to promote Alberta as a leader in responsible development. The minister met with representatives from the energy industry, the investment community and government to discuss shared energy issues and encourage investment in Alberta’s energy sector.

Investment mission, Energy Minister Ron Liepert travelled to New York City (March 25-26, 2010) to meet with financial leaders and promote increased investment in Alberta’s energy sector.  The mission focused on highlighting the recent changes for Alberta’s conventional oil and gas sector, which were announced as a result of the competitiveness review initiated by the Government of Alberta.

Carbon Capture and Storage Mission to Europe, Travel to Olso, Norway; London, England; Brussels, Belgium; Dusseldorf, Germany - March 14-23, 2010 by Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Energy, Diana McQueen.  Ms. McQueen participated at three Carbon capture and storage (CCS) conferences.  She also promoted CCS and oil sands investment in Alberta.

Travel to London, England and Paris, France, October 8 - 17, 2009, Energy Minister Mel Knight traveled to London, England and Paris, France to meet with European legislators and encourage business leaders to consider increased investment in Alberta’s energy sector. Minister Knight joined international energy leaders at a leadership forum on carbon sequestration on October 12 and 13 in London.
